Chao Zhang received Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1995, from Northern Jiaotong University, Beijing, China.

After working as a postdoctoral research fellow for two years, he became a faculty member in June 1997 at the State Key Laboratory of Machine Perception, Peking University, Beijing, China, where he is currently an associate professor of machine vision research group.
